Karuna Stores & Malligai

Our shop is located at 17/49 on the Highway Main Road in Chettipalayam. We are right opposite the Lotus Temple, which is a big landmark around here. Since we are on the highway, we get a mix of local people and travelers passing through Coimbatore. We sell groceries and malligai items, mostly things for the kitchen and house. The shop gets a bit of a breeze because of the open road, but it also gets a lot of noise from the trucks. We’ve been running this place for a long time. The floor is concrete and has a few cracks. It’s sturdy enough for what we do. We keep the sacks of rice and grains near the back. Often, we are busy weighing out portions for customers who prefer to buy in bulk. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting bags and stocking the racks. We don't have any help, just the family members taking turns behind the counter. Sometimes the morning rush is a bit much. People have to wait their turn while we finish with someone else. We like being near the temple because it’s a peaceful spot despite the highway traffic. We aren't trying to be a big supermarket, just a reliable place for the community to get their cooking essentials. We close up once the sun goes down and the traffic on the road thins out a bit. It’s just how we spend our days. We are usually here six days a week unless there is a family function or a big holiday that keeps us away.
