Kali Aerated Water Works

If you walk down Tamil Sangam Road and find Mani Iyer Lane, you’ll find us at number 84. It’s a narrow lane, so it gets a bit tight when we are loading up the carts or small vans. This part of town has been here forever. Kali Aerated Water Works is tucked away right in the middle of it all. The building has seen many years. We don't have a big fancy lobby or anything like that. Just the workspace where we fill the bottles and the small area where we keep the accounts. It smells like wet glass and carbonation most mornings. We start early before the sun gets too hot over the lane. The neighbors know us well by now. We usually have a bit of a chat with the tea seller nearby while we wait for the deliveries to get sorted. It’s not a quiet job because the machines making the bubbles are always clinking. Sometimes the rain floods the lane a little bit but we just keep working through it. We don’t do big advertisements. Most people around here just know where to get their drinks. It’s a simple life at 84, Mani Iyer Lane. We’ve been part of this neighborhood for a long time and we like the way things are. Just honest work with water and gas. The walls are a bit faded, but that doesn't stop the production. We focus on the machines and the bottles rather than the paint.
