Indumathy Tea

We are tucked away at Shop-20 on 1st Street in Viswanathapuram. It’s a quiet little corner of Ganapathy compared to the main roads. The shop isn't very large so we keep most of the tea in large bins and bags along the walls. Early in the morning, before the sun is even fully up, we are usually here getting things ready for the day. You can see the dust motes dancing in the light that comes through the small front window. We spend a lot of time weighing out portions and chatting with the housewives and elderly men who live around the corner. It’s a slow pace of life here. We don't have a computer system, just a ledger where we write things down by hand. Sometimes the neighborhood kids run past and make a lot of noise, but mostly it's just the sound of the metal scoops hitting the tea leaves. The shelves are made of old wood that we’ve had since we opened. We don't try to be anything we aren't, just a place to get what you need for your morning cup. Every now and then we have to move everything around to clean the corners properly because the tea dust gets everywhere. It’s just us and the tea, and we hope the weather stays clear this week so we can get more of the new stock organized properly.
