Government High School

This Government High School has been a fixture in Peelamedu for quite many years. Being in Coimbatore, the surroundings are always busy with traffic and people heading to work. Our school sits right there in the middle of it all on the 641004 side. The walls have been repainted a few times, but you can still feel the age of the place when you walk through the main entrance. It’s a large space with different blocks for the older and younger students. The playground gets very dusty in the summer months, but the kids don't seem to mind much. We spend a lot of time just organizing the daily schedule and making sure the midday meals are ready on time. Peelamedu is a crowded area, so we have a lot of students coming from the narrow lanes nearby. You’ll hear the bell ringing all the way down the street. It’s a loud, metallic sound that everyone recognizes. The benches are old wood and some have names carved into them from students who left years ago. We have a small office where all the paperwork is kept in big cupboards. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just open the windows wider to let the breeze in. It’s a very normal, local school life here. Nothing is too shiny, but it’s a place that works every day for the community around us.
