Government Boys Higher Secondary School

This is the Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Udumalpet. We are over at 49 67 Sowthamalar Layout in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The school has been part of this community for a long time. It is not a fancy private institution with big gates. It is a place where local boys come to learn and hopefully get a good start in life. Our staff room is usually a bit chaotic with teachers grading papers and planning the next day’s lessons. We have old wooden benches in the classrooms and a playground that gets very dusty in the summer. It is a real school with all the noise and energy you would expect. We don't have a big budget for decorations, so the walls are just covered with student work and some basic maps. The principal’s office is small and usually has a couple of parents waiting outside to talk about their kids. We all know each other here, and many of the teachers have lived in Udumalpet their whole lives. We don't put out brochures or advertisements. Everyone in the layout knows where we are and what we do. It is hard work sometimes, especially when the exams are coming up, but we just take it one day at a time. We care about the students and just want them to do their best. That is the long and short of it for us at this school and we like it.
