Globe Gra Agri Cold Storage is located at No. 8 Seven Wells Street in Chennai. If you’ve been to Seven Wells, you know how cramped the streets are. It’s an old part of the city, but it’s where we’ve set up our cold storage facility. We mostly store agricultural items that need to stay cool so they don't spoil in the Chennai heat. It is a constant battle to keep the machinery running perfectly, especially when the power fluctuates. The building is an older one, adapted for cooling. It isn't easy getting large trucks down these narrow roads, so we have to be very careful with our timing. Most of our work is done in the early hours or late at night when the traffic dies down a bit. We don't use any fancy marketing talk. We are just a group of people making sure the vegetables and fruits stay fresh for the local markets. It’s cold inside and sweltering outside, so we are always moving between the two. We’ve got a small crew that knows how to handle the inventory. It’s a lot of manual logging and checking thermometers. We don't have a big corporate board or anything like that. It’s just us here on Seven Wells Street, doing a very specific, practical job for the local food trade. It is noisy and crowded, but it is our place of work every single day.
