Atghara & Ratanpur Jute Fabric Cotons

We are out in Village Atghra, in the Amdanga Block. Atghara & Ratanpur Jute Fabric Cotons is really a product of this place. We work with jute and cotton, which are materials we know inside and out. The workshop isn't anything fancy, just a sturdy place where the materials are kept and sorted. It can get quite dusty because of the fibers, but that’s just part of the job. Most of the people working here are from around the village. We have known each other for years. It’s a lot of manual labor, moving the fabric and making sure everything is counted right. We don't have a website or do any big promotions. People just know us because we’ve been here in Amdanga for a long time. The weather affects our work quite a bit, especially during the monsoon when things get damp. We have to be careful about storage then. It’s a simple operation, really. We don't use big machines for everything; a lot of it is done by hand. It’s honest work and it keeps the community going. We just try to provide what people ask for and stay busy throughout the seasons. There isn't much more to it than that. Just some people working with fabric in a quiet corner of the village. We keep the machines running and the floors swept as best we can every single day.
