Out here on Pollachi Road, things move a bit slower than in the city. Our place, Ariyakudi Iyengars Food Products, is located right near the Kpm School in Eachanari Village. The address is D.No.651/2A, if you’re looking for it on a map. We mostly focus on making traditional food products that people can take home. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so you’ll often find us arguing about the right way to mix the spices or how long something should sit. We grew up eating these things and thought maybe other people would want them too. Being near the school means we see a lot of kids and parents every day. It’s a dusty road and it gets hot in the afternoons, but we keep the work going. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us packing bags and making sure everything is clean. Sometimes we make mistakes, but we always try to fix them. The goal was never to be some massive factory. We just wanted a small spot in the village where we could make decent food. People around here know us, and that’s enough for us. It’s hard work, especially when the weather isn’t helping, but we’re used to it by now. Just a local business doing local things. We enjoy the routine of it all, even if it gets tiring by the end.
