Over in Tamia, there’s a small place called Gram Haras Divari. That’s where you’ll find Satdhara Farmers Producer Company Limited. Our address is house number 40. It’s deep in the Chhindwara district, where the hills are. We are a bunch of farmers who decided it was better to work as one group. The road to Haras Divari can be a bit bumpy, especially after a heavy rain or during the monsoon months. We don't have a fancy website or a huge team of people in suits. It’s just us in our work clothes most of the time. We talk about seeds, the price of fertilizer, and when the monsoon might actually start. Sometimes we sit under the trees and talk about the harvest. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s our life. Tamia is a beautiful place, but farming here takes a lot of effort and sweat. We focus on what we can grow in this specific soil. We share what we know and help each other out when someone’s tractor breaks down or the crops look a bit thin. Our office is just a room in the village where we keep our ledgers and bags of grain. We don't have any big mission statements or goals written on the walls.
