Our spot at 108 Mount Poonamallee Road in Porur is hard to miss if you know the area. W.S. Industries India Limited has been part of this landscape for a long time. The road out front is always busy, with cars and buses heading towards the city or out to the outskirts. Sometimes it takes a few minutes just to pull out of the gate because of the traffic. The building itself shows its age in a good way, like it’s settled into the ground. Inside, it’s mostly just rows of workspaces and people busy with their computers or looking over documents. We don't have those open-plan offices you see in magazines; it’s more traditional with actual walls and corners. The rain in Porur can be quite something, and we’ve seen our share of puddles in the yard over the years. We don’t really have a front desk person who greets you with a scripted line. Usually, whoever is closest to the door just looks up and says hello. It’s a very grounded way of operating. Most of us have been here long enough to know where everything is kept, even the old files from ten years ago. We drink a lot of coffee and talk about the weekend while waiting for the kettle to boil. It’s a decent place to spend the day. There’s no pressure to look like a high-tech startup. We’re just a bunch of people doing our jobs at 108 Mount Poonamallee Road.
