West Asia Maritime Pvt Ltd is tucked away in the basement of Buharia Towers on Moores Road. It’s right near Greams Road, which is always packed with people and cars, especially since Asan Memorial School is just around the corner. Working in a basement means we don’t get much of a view, but it keeps the office a bit cooler during the hot Chennai summers. We’ve been here at No 4 for quite some time now. The office is full of maps and shipping schedules, and there is usually a pot of tea going somewhere in the back. It’s not a fancy corporate headquarters by any means. We have old desks and chairs that have seen a lot of use over the years. Our team is small, and we mostly focus on the maritime side of things, dealing with ships and ports. The traffic on Greams Road can be a nightmare in the afternoons when the school lets out, so we usually just stay late to avoid the rush. It’s a quiet enough place once you get downstairs and away from the street noise. We don’t go in for big meetings or long presentations; we just talk across the room to get things sorted. It’s a very practical way to run a business. We know our neighbors in the building and everyone just goes about their own business without making a scene. It is a bit cramped with all the binders, but we make it work for us.
