V. S. Metal Works

Down at 23/1, Ellaimudali Lane, you’ll find us working with metal every day. It’s a narrow lane, so it can be a bit of a squeeze when we have deliveries coming in or going out. V. S. Metal Works has been here for a long time. The sound of hammers and cutting machines is pretty much the soundtrack to our lives. It’s a workshop, through and through. There’s dust on the shelves and the smell of cut iron in the air. We don't have a fancy showroom. If someone wants to see what we do, they just come into the shop and look at what’s on the benches. We work with our hands mostly. The guys here have been doing this for years, and they know the metal better than anything else. We don’t have a human resources department or a big office. It’s just the owner and a few workers who know their jobs. We eat our tiffins in the back during the break. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, but there’s always something else to clean or organize. The lane is usually crowded with people walking past, and they often peek in to see what we’re making. It’s just honest work, nothing more and nothing less. We keep the machines running and try to make sure every piece that leaves the shop is done right.
