The Golden Metal Corporation

Our place is at 19, Nyniappa Naicken Street. If you know this area, you know how crowded it gets. The Golden Metal Corporation has been squeezed into this street for years. It’s a narrow building and we have metal sheets and rods stacked up wherever they can fit. It is a bit of a maze inside. We deal with all sorts of metals, mostly selling to local builders or craftsmen who need specific sizes. The street outside is always full of carts, rickshaws, and people shouting, so it’s never quiet. We open the shutters early in the morning and stay until the sun goes down. There isn’t much space for an office, so we just have a small wooden desk near the front where we keep the receipts and the cash box. We don't have a fancy website or do any advertising. Most people find us because they were walking by or someone told them we had what they needed. It gets really hot in the summer because of all the metal, but we just keep the fans going. We have a couple of guys who help with the loading and unloading. We’ve known most of the other shopkeepers on Nyniappa Naicken Street for decades. We just try to give people a fair price and the right material. It’s a simple way of doing business, but it’s worked for us so far.
