Ssh Furn

We are tucked away off 59 Thurkai Koil Street in M.G.Rnagar. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze getting down the street sometimes, especially if there’s a truck making a delivery nearby. At Ssh Furn, the main thing you notice when you walk in is the smell of fresh wood and some of the polish we use. It’s a small operation. We don't have a giant showroom with bright lights. Instead, we have a workspace where we actually put things together. The floor is usually covered in some wood shavings by noon. We try to sweep up, but it’s a losing battle until the end of the day. M.G.Rnagar is a busy neighborhood with a lot of houses and small shops packed together. We like being part of the noise here. Sometimes the temple music from Thurkai Koil Street comes floating into the shop, which is nice when you're working on a difficult piece of furniture. We have a few old fans that wobble a bit, but they keep the air moving while we work. It’s a gritty, hands-on kind of place. We don't spend much time sitting around talking. There is always a chair to fix or a table to finish. Most of our tools have been with us for years and they feel right in our hands. It’s just what we do.
