We started this furniture shop a while back in Choolaimedu. If you walk down Periyar Pathai, you will find us at Janaki Empire. It’s not a fancy showroom like the ones you see in the mall, it is mostly just us working with wood and trying to get orders finished on time. The shop gets pretty dusty with all the sanding going on, and sometimes the noise from the street makes it hard to talk to customers clearly. We have a few guys who know their way around a saw and some glue. It’s hard work, especially when the weather gets humid and the wood starts acting up, but we manage. People around here know where we are. We do not have a big sign or anything, just the address 42/198. Most days are spent moving chairs around or fixing a cabinet that someone brought in. It’s just a regular local business. We keep some basic designs in the back, but mostly it is just what people ask for when they stop by. Sometimes the delivery truck gets stuck in the narrow lane, which is always a bit of a headache for everyone involved. We try to keep things simple here. No big sales pitches or fancy catalogs. If you need something made or fixed, we just look at it and tell you if we can do it. It’s a bit messy sometimes, but that is how a furniture place usually is when there is real work happening.
