Sri Balaji Metal Works

You can find us at No 22, Kolandai Street, right in the middle of Park Town. It’s a tight squeeze down these streets, and the traffic is usually a mess, but we manage to get things done. Our shop is old and has a lot of history in the walls. We do metal work here, so there is always a lot of hammering and clanging going on. The neighbors are used to it by now. It’s a small space, so we have to be organized, though it might not look like it to someone walking in off the street. There are stacks of metal sheets and tools scattered around the benches. Park Town is a busy place to work, with people moving fast and lorries trying to get through the narrow lanes. We start early before the sun gets too high because the shop stays cooler that way. Sri Balaji Metal Works is basically just a few guys who have spent their whole lives working with their hands. We don’t have a fancy website or a bunch of sales people. People just find us by word of mouth or by walking past No 22. It’s a simple life, really. We take the work as it comes and try to get it done without too much fuss. By the time we lock up in the evening, we’re covered in metal filings and grease. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy in this crowded part of the city.
