Sowmya Metal Constructoin Works

Sowmya Metal Constructoin Works is based at 399/Aa in the Sidco Indl Estate in Ambattur. This is a real industrial area, so there’s no getting away from the dirt and the noise. Our unit is basically a large shed with high ceilings and a lot of heavy machinery. The smell of cut metal and welding sparks is pretty much constant from the moment we open the gates in the morning. We don’t have a separate office as such; just a small wooden cabin in the corner where the phone sits and where we keep the ledger. Most of our time is spent out on the shop floor. It’s physical work, and it can be quite tiring, especially when we have a big project to finish. We’ve all got callouses on our hands and probably some hearing loss from the grinders, but that’s the nature of metal construction. We don't have any slick brochures or a fancy website. Most people find us because they know we’ve been in Ambattur for years and we just get on with things. The tea here is always strong and served in small glasses, and we usually drink it standing up near the workbench. It’s a tough environment, but there’s a certain pride in seeing something being built from scratch out of raw metal. We just keep our heads down and do the work that comes our way, day after day, until it's time to head home. It is what we have always done.
