S.M Steels

S.M Steels is at No.101 on G.S.T Road. We’re in the Green Masjid Building in Pallavaram. It’s a very recognizable building because of the name. Being on G.S.T Road means it’s never quiet. There is a constant stream of cars and buses going by. We’re on the ground floor, which makes it easier for moving the steel around. The shop is a bit cramped because we try to keep as much as possible on hand. You’ll see us there most mornings by nine. We’ve got a small fan that works most of the time to keep the heat away. It’s a straightforward business. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know we are in the Green Masjid Building. We talk to the same regulars every week. Sometimes we sit outside on the steps when it’s not too busy. The area has changed a lot, with new shops opening up and others closing, but we’ve stayed put at number 101. It’s a good spot for us. We don’t use big words to describe what we do. We just sell steel. If we have it, we tell you. If we don’t, we tell you that too. It’s honest work. The mosque nearby is a good landmark for anyone trying to find us for the first time. We just take things as they come.
