Site Engineer

I am T. Dhanaraj, and I work as a Site Engineer. My father is M. Thangavel. We are based in Perumangalam Post, which is in the Kallakurichi area of Villupuram district. This is a quiet place compared to the big cities. My office is a small building attached to our main house. It’s nothing more than a room with a desk, a chair, and a cupboard full of measuring tapes and levelers. I spend a lot of time walking the fields and sites around here. When I’m back at the desk, I’m usually trying to organize the labor schedules or checking the material costs. The walls are a bit bare, and the floor is just plain tiles. I have a small window that looks out onto the garden. It’s peaceful here, which is good for when I have to do calculations. Sometimes the neighbors stop by for a chat while I’m working. I don’t have a big sign or any fancy equipment. Just the basics to get the job done right. The commute to the various sites in the district can be long, so I usually leave early in the morning. This room in Perumangalam is where everything starts and ends for me. It’s a simple life, and the work is hard but honest. I like having my own space to think and plan without the noise of a big office. I often find myself staying up late to finish the blueprints under a small lamp.
