K. S. Engineering

You can find K. S. Engineering over at No. 88-B in the Sidco Industrial Estate in Guindy. It’s a very active part of town, always smelling like cut metal and machine oil. Our unit is one of many in the estate, and we’ve been here for quite some time now. The space is filled with heavy lathes, drills, and benches where the manual work happens. It’s noisy and the floor is always covered in metal shavings, no matter how much we sweep. We wear our work clothes and usually have grease on our hands by ten in the morning. People from other businesses in Sidco often stop by to talk about a specific job or just to share some news. We don’t have a fancy reception area, just a small desk near the entrance where we keep the invoices and a telephone that rings quite a lot. The roof is high and made of corrugated sheets, so when it rains in Guindy, it gets incredibly loud inside. We focus on the precision of the parts we are making, often leaning over the machines for hours. There’s a small corner where we keep our tools organized on a pegboard, or at least we try to keep them that way. It’s hard work and the days are long, but that’s the nature of engineering in an industrial estate like this. We just keep the machines running and handle whatever jobs come in.
