If you are walking down Venkata Maistry Street in Mannady, you will eventually see our shop at number 3/2. It is a tight squeeze in this part of town. The streets are narrow and they are always crowded with people and handcarts. We have been operating out of these two units, 3/2 and 28/60, for many years now. It is a lot of hard work moving heavy steel in such a congested area. Sometimes the delivery vans struggle to get through the daily traffic. We spend most of our mornings just clearing enough space to work. The building is quite old, and it has that distinct smell of iron and old wood. My father started this business, and now we just carry it on. We do not have a website or any of that modern stuff. People just know where we are by word of mouth. We have piles of rods and flats leaning against the walls inside. It is noisy because of the surrounding market, but we have grown used to it over time. You have to be careful where you step because there is always something lying on the floor. We keep a simple ledger on the old wooden desk and write everything down by hand. It works for us. Mannady is a tough place to work because of the heat, but it is home. We close up for a bit in the afternoon. (246 words)
