Our office is over on Second Line Beach, which is a really old part of the city. Being on the first floor of number 22 means we see a lot of what goes on in the street below. It's a very busy area with a lot of history in the shipping business. We spend our days mostly dealing with logistics and all the files that come with moving ships. The building is older, so it has that specific feel to it. It’s not like those new glass towers you see in other parts of town. We’ve got desks full of documents and the phones never really stop ringing. People walk up the stairs all day with different requests. It gets quite hot in the summer, even with the fans going. Most of us have been working here a long time now. We know the neighbors and the local tea stall nearby where everyone goes for a break. Shipping is a lot of waiting for news from the port and then rushing to get things finished. It can be stressful when things are delayed, but we just keep at it. The atmosphere is pretty casual among the staff. We don't really do the corporate thing. We just show up, get the shipping work done, and go home. Second Line Beach has a lot of character, and we’re just another part of that daily bustle. It's just a regular office life for us.
