Shanti Steel Centre

Shanti Steel Centre is located at 242 Mint Street. This street is always buzzing with people and bikes. It’s one of those places where you can find almost anything if you look hard enough. We focus on steel items. Our shop isn't very wide, but it goes back a long way. We have shelves filled with all sorts of things. It’s a bit of a maze inside. We don't spend money on fancy decorations or air conditioning that barely works anyway with the door open all day. We just focus on what the customers ask for when they walk in. Some days it’s so busy we barely have time to eat lunch. Other days are quieter and we spend time organizing the racks. We’ve been here long enough that we know the regular faces on the street. It’s a community of shops, really. We don't use any high-tech systems for everything; a lot of it is still written down in ledgers or kept in our heads. It’s an old-school way of doing things, but it has worked for us so far. No need to change what isn't broken. If you’re around Mint Street, you’ll likely see us leaning against the counter or helping someone load a vehicle. The traffic on Mint Street never really stops, so we just work around it. It’s loud and busy, but after all these years, the silence would probably feel strange to us. We just keep the steel moving.
