Shanthi Metals

Shanthi Metals is situated at No. 28/342 on Walltax Road. We are directly opposite Thirupalli Street and right near Grace Matriculation School. Because of the school, the street gets incredibly busy in the mornings and afternoons with kids and rickshaws everywhere. Our shop is packed to the ceiling with all kinds of metal pipes, rods, and sheets. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze to move around inside because we try to keep as much stock as possible on hand. The lighting isn't great, and there is a lot of dust that settles on the materials, but we know exactly where everything is located. We don't have a fancy computer system to track everything. We just remember which pile has the brass and which one has the aluminum. People come in looking for specific lengths of metal, and we use a manual saw to cut them down to size right there. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and moving things around to get to the pieces at the bottom of the stack. The walls are made of old brick and have posters for local events stuck to them. We aren't trying to be a big industrial supplier. We just serve the local builders and hobbyists who need a few pieces of metal for their work. It’s a dusty, cramped, and busy place, but we’ve been here for a long time and it works for us. Most days we are just busy helping people find what they need.
