Shanthi Juice Shop

Shanthi Juice Shop is located over at 3 Scheme Road in Perumalpur. It’s a decent enough spot for what we do every day. We’ve got the fresh fruit coming in every morning in crates and we spend a lot of time just peeling and cutting things up by hand. It’s sticky work and your hands get stained by the afternoon. The floor gets a bit wet sometimes from the melting ice and the washing of the mixers. We don’t have a lot of space inside for people to sit, but we make it work. Customers usually just stand outside on the pavement while they wait for their drink. Perumalpur is a busy area so there’s always someone walking by or stopping in for a minute. We don't have any big signs or bright flashing lights to get attention. Just the name on the board above the door. My family helps out when it gets really crowded in the afternoons when the heat is bad and everyone is thirsty. Everyone wants something cold then to cool down. We keep the fridge humming all day long. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to scramble to keep things from spoiling. That's just part of running a shop in this part of town. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We just sell juice to anyone who wants some. It’s been our daily routine for a long time now. We just focus on the oranges and lemons.
