Our business, Scientific & Electrical Co., is located at 98, Linghi Chetty Street, right in the heart of the busy trading district. It is a lively place to work, though the noise from the street never really stops. We deal in all kinds of lab equipment and electrical bits and pieces. If you need a specific type of glass tube or a certain gauge of copper wire, we usually have it buried somewhere on our shelves. The shop has a bit of a vintage feel because we have not changed much over the years. We prefer to keep things as they are, focusing on the inventory rather than updating the paint or the signs. Sometimes the inventory gets a bit jumbled, but we usually know where everything is. Our customers are mostly regulars who know the area well and do not mind the hustle and bustle. We do not have a big corporate structure; it is just a few of us taking orders, packing boxes, and chatting with whoever comes in. We have seen the neighborhood change a lot, but our little spot stays pretty much the same. It is a lot of manual work, checking stock and loading supplies, but we have got a good system down. We are not trying to be the biggest company out there; we just want to keep the shop running and provide what the local scientists and electricians need for their daily work.
