We’ve been here at 44-A in the industrial estate for quite some time now. It’s a busy spot with trucks coming in and out of the developed plots all day. Most mornings start early with the crew getting the machines ready. There’s usually a lot of noise, but you get used to it after a week or two. We handle various engineering jobs that people bring to us. Sometimes it’s complicated stuff and other times it is just basic parts that need fixing. We don’t have fancy offices or anything like that. It’s mostly just the workshop floor and a small space for paperwork. The guys here have been working together for a long while, so we know how each other works. There is plenty of grease and metal scraps around, which is just how an engineering place looks. We try to keep things organized, but when you are busy, things get a bit messy. It’s honest work. We don’t spend much time on the computer unless we have to. Most of the day is spent looking at drawings or standing by the equipment. If you walk past our plot, you’ll probably hear the hum of the motors. We just do what needs to be done to get the orders finished and sent out. It’s not a glamorous life, but it keeps us going and we know the trade well enough by now. We just take it day by day and try to keep things moving along without making a big fuss.
