We are located at 69-D in the Sidco Industrial Estate out in Ambattur. Richardson & Cruddas (1972) Ltd. has been around this area for quite a while. The estate is always full of trucks and the sound of machinery. It’s an industrial place, so don't expect anything too pretty. We have a big shed where most of the work happens. It’s noisy and can get quite hot during the summer months. We deal with heavy stuff mostly. There is a lot of metalwork and assembly going on throughout the day. We have a small office section for the managers and the billing, but most of us are out on the floor. We follow the old ways of doing things because they work. We aren't into the newest management trends; we just focus on the output. If a machine breaks, we fix it ourselves. The guys here have been working together for years, so we don't need to say much to get the job done. Ambattur is a long way for some people to travel, but for us, it’s just where the work is. We start early to beat the heat. By the time the sun is high, we’ve usually finished a good chunk of the day's tasks. It’s not a complicated life. We take the orders, we build the things, and we send them out. It’s just what we do here.
