Ankur Footwears Pvt. Ltd. is located over at 3/516, though some people still use the old number 75/2b. We are on Kundrathur High Road in Madhananada Puram, specifically in the Essar Building at number 162. It’s in the Gerugambakkam area of Chennai. If you’ve ever driven down Kundrathur High Road, you know the traffic can be a nightmare. It takes a lot of patience to get here some days. Our building is a solid one, right there in the middle of everything. We make shoes and footwear. It’s a lot of manual work and the smell of glue and leather is something you get used to after five minutes. The team here is mostly local people from Porur and nearby spots. We have a few floors in the Essar Building. It's a busy place with people coming and going. We don't spend money on fancy advertisements. Most of our work comes from people who have known us for years. The humidity in Chennai doesn't help with the work but we have some cooling fans running all day. We try to keep the floors swept but it's hard with all the scraps. It’s just a normal footwear factory. We start early in the morning and stay until the work is finished for the day. Sometimes we stay late when a big shipment is due to go out to the retailers.
