Our shop is at 20 South Usman Road in T Nagar. If you know Chennai, you know how wild T Nagar can get. It is always crowded outside with people shopping and buses pushing through the narrow spaces. Inside our doors, it is a bit different, though still busy. We have rows and rows of shoes, belts, and bags everywhere. The smell of leather is the first thing you notice when you walk in. We don't do much in the way of fancy displays. It is more about having the stock out where people can see it and try things on. The floor gets a lot of wear and tear from all the feet walking through every day. We spend most of our time helping people find their size or digging through boxes in the back. It’s a loud, energetic place to work. We have been on South Usman Road for a long time, so we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit. Despite the changes, we just keep selling leather goods like we always have. There are always people coming in looking for something sturdy for work or something nice for a wedding. We just keep the shelves stocked and keep the line moving. It is a hectic life, but we like being right in the middle of the action. Sometimes the noise from the street is so loud we have to shout to be heard, but that is just T Nagar. It keeps us going day after day.
