Tara Shoes

Tara Shoes is located at 162, Arcot Road in Valasaravakkam. If you know the area, you know how busy Arcot Road gets with all the buses and cars. Our shop is right in the middle of it all. It’s a straightforward shoe store. We have racks along the walls filled with different styles, and there’s always that strong smell of new leather and rubber when you walk in. I spend a lot of time just organizing the boxes and helping people find the right fit. We don't have those fancy foot-scanning machines or anything like that. We just use a regular measuring stick and our eyes to see if a shoe fits right. The floor is just plain tile, and we have a couple of old benches for people to sit on while they try things on. Sometimes the shop gets really crowded on the weekends, and it can be hard to move around between the displays. We’ve been here for a while, so we see a lot of the same faces coming back every year when their old shoes wear out. We also do minor repairs if something isn't too badly broken. It’s not a high-end boutique. It’s just a place where you can get a decent pair of shoes for a fair price. We keep the doors open to let the breeze in, but that also means we get some of the road noise too. It’s just part of being here on the main road.
