About Imara Doors – Building & Construction Material in Chennai
Our little shop is No. 10, located inside No. 14 Moore Street here in Georgetown. It’s a tight squeeze with all the doors leaned up against the walls. Georgetown is always buzzing with people, and Moore Street is no exception. You can hear the traffic and the street vendors outside all day long. We have wooden doors, heavy ones made of solid timber, and some lighter options too. It’s a bit of a maze in here. Sometimes we have to move five or six doors just to get to the one at the back that a customer wants to look at. We get a lot of dust blowing in from the street, so we’re always wiping things down with a rag. The light inside the shop isn't the best, so we often carry the doors out to the sidewalk so people can see the wood grain in the natural light. We’ve been in this spot for a long time. We know the other shopkeepers on the block and we chat when things are slow. It’s not a fancy showroom with bright lights and carpets. It’s just a place where we keep our stock and wait for customers. We use an old wooden desk for all the receipts and the phone. Sometimes the hinges on the display models squeak, so we keep a can of oil nearby to fix it. People come in looking for something sturdy for their homes.
