Orissa Stevedores Limited

We are located in Mannady, on Narayanappan Street. Our office is on the second floor of what used to be old number 19, but they call it new number 4 now. Orissa Stevedores Limited is basically about the grit and grime of the docks. We deal with the loading and unloading of ships, which is a lot more complicated than it sounds. There are always cranes, laborers, and cargo to coordinate. It’s not a desk job where you stay clean all day. Even though we have this office space, someone is usually down at the waterfront seeing to the work. Mannady is a tight area with a lot of history and narrow streets. We've got deep roots in the stevedoring business and we don't feel the need to dress it up with corporate talk. It’s hard work and long hours. The office upstairs is where we handle the billing and the labor schedules. Sometimes it feels like we are buried in paper, but that's how it goes when you’re moving heavy tons of material. We aren't trying to be the biggest or most modern, we just focus on getting the ships cleared and the goods moved out. It’s a busy life, and the phone doesn't stop once a vessel docks. We take things one day at a time here on Narayanappan Street, keeping the gears of trade turning as best as we can. It's what we know how to do.
