NU Thread India

We spend most of our time here at No. 31A/15 in the Sidco Industrial Estate. It’s a busy part of Ambattur and you can always hear the sounds of other workshops around us. We have these large shelves filled with thread cones in every color you can think of. Most days start early because the heat gets a bit much by the afternoon, even with the fans going. The floor is usually covered in little bits of lint and scrap. We’ve been in this spot for a while now and the neighbors all know us. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time finding the exact gate because the estate is so big, so we end up standing out on the road to wave them in. It’s not a fancy office or anything, just a workspace where we get things sorted and packed. We drink a lot of tea while we work and talk about whatever is happening in the news. The machines hum all day long. When the power goes out, which happens sometimes, the whole place goes quiet and we just sit outside for a bit. It’s just how things go here. We keep our logs in big paper ledgers and try to stay on top of the orders coming in. There’s always another box to move or a shelf to organize. It’s steady work and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down over the estate. It's nothing special to look at, just a lot of thread and hard work.
