About National Engineers (India) – Engineering in Chennai
Our shop is at New No. 81 on Peters Road, which used to be Old No. 61. People still get confused by the numbers sometimes, but Royapettah is a place where everyone eventually finds what they need. We do engineering work, mostly focused on small parts and repairs that keep bigger machines running. It’s a bit of a dusty place because of all the metalwork, but we like it that way. There’s always the sound of someone grinding something or a fan humming in the corner. We aren't a massive company with hundreds of employees. It’s just a group of us who know our way around a workshop. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but we’ve stayed right here. If a customer comes in with a broken part, we take a look and see if it can be fixed or if we need to get a replacement. There’s no scripted greeting here. You just walk in and talk to whoever isn't busy. We don’t have a big marketing department or any of that. Most of our tools have been with us for years and they still work better than the new stuff. We stay busy with local contracts and the occasional walk-in. It’s a regular day-to-day operation where we just try to do the job right so we can go home on time. The tea stall nearby provides our mid-morning break and that’s about as fancy as it gets.
