M.S.S. Steels

M.S.S. Steels is located at New No. 98, though some of the older folks still know it as Old No. 63. We are right on Cemetery Road in Old Washermenpet. It is one of those old parts of the city where everything feels a bit crowded and lived-in. The building we are in has been around for a long time. You can tell by the way the doors creak and the walls have been painted over so many times. We have a lot of stock piled up inside and it overflows onto the sidewalk sometimes when a new shipment comes in. We have to be quick about moving it so we don't block the way for people walking by. Cemetery Road can get quite busy with all sorts of vehicles. Inside the shop, it’s mostly just us and the inventory. We have a small fan that rattles all day long. The desk is covered in old receipts and bits of paper. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just rely on people knowing we are here. Old Washermenpet is a place where everyone seems to know everyone else. We see the same delivery guys every week. It’s a steady kind of life and we just keep the shop running as best as we can. There isn't any fancy air conditioning, so we just keep the doors open for a breeze. We have some tea in the afternoon and watch the world go by on Cemetery Road for a bit. It is simple but it’s ours.
