Monish Metal

Our place is at 37/1, Ekambareswarar Agraharam in Park Town. It’s right in the middle of a very old part of the city where the streets are filled with shops just like ours. We have metal pieces and parts all over the place. Some are sitting in bins, and others are just stacked in the corners. It’s not the most organized looking shop, but we know exactly where everything is. The air usually smells a bit like copper or iron, depending on what we moved that morning. We get a lot of walk-in traffic from people looking for specific bits of metal for their projects. The door is usually left open so we can catch a breeze, though it mostly just lets in the street noise. We don’t have any fancy signs or brochures. People mostly find us because they’ve been coming here for years or someone told them about us. We have a small desk where we keep the ledger and a telephone that’s been there since I can remember. Sometimes the electricity goes out for an hour, and we just sit on the stools and wait it out. It’s a simple life. We aren't trying to change the world; we’re just selling metal in Park Town. It keeps us occupied and the regulars seem happy enough with how we do things. We just close up at night and do it all again tomorrow.
