Mmk Batcha Steel is right in the middle of everything on Broadway High Road. Our address is No. 68, but the old number was 194. Broadway is one of the busiest places you could imagine. There are people, cycles, and carts everywhere. We deal with steel, so you can imagine the noise when we’re moving stock in such a crowded street. It’s a constant battle with the space we have. We’ve been here for years and have seen the market change so many times. The building is old and has a lot of character, though it’s mostly just a place to store our metal rods and sheets. We don’t have a polished front office. We just have a desk and some chairs where we talk to customers. It’s usually hot and humid, and the ceiling fans don't do much. We know the other shopkeepers on the road, and we often share a cup of tea while waiting for a delivery. Broadway has a specific energy that you don't find anywhere else. It’s chaotic and loud, but we like it. We don't spend money on marketing or big signs. People find us because we’ve been at this spot for ages. It’s a lot of hard work and long hours, especially when the traffic makes it hard for trucks to reach us. We just keep at it, day after day, right here on the high road. Sometimes the humidity makes everything feel sticky, but that’s just part of life here.
