Sembudoss Street in Parrys is one of those places that never really seems to sleep. It’s loud, it’s cramped, and it’s full of history. Mgm Steels is located right in the thick of it, at number 54, which used to be old number 61. It’s an old building that has seen plenty of summers. Working in Parrys means you get used to the humidity and the narrow lanes that are always blocked by some truck or cart. Inside our space, things are pretty functional. We have our inventory stacked up, and there’s barely enough room to walk some days. It’s a no-nonsense environment. We don't have bright lights or fancy signage. Most people find us because they’ve been coming here for years or someone told them where we were. We spend our days handling orders and chatting with the other shop owners on Sembudoss Street. It’s a tight-knit community of traders down here. You can hear the sounds of metal clanging and horns honking from morning until evening. We don't try to sugarcoat what we do. It’s hard work, and the dust is part of the job. We aren't interested in sounding corporate or using big words to describe ourselves. We are just a local steel business that has survived by just being here and doing the same thing for years. It’s a part of Chennai that is constantly moving. It’s a busy life, but it suits us just fine.
