Parrys Corner is one of those places in Chennai where you can barely move most days, and that is exactly where we are located on Thambu Chetty Street. Our office at 268 is tucked away in the middle of all that chaos. We’ve been operating as a shipping agency for a while now, mostly dealing with the ports and all the back-and-forth communication that involves. It is a lot of desk work, honestly. People think shipping is all about the ocean, but for us, it’s mostly about the documents and making sure the customs stuff is sorted out. The building is older, like most things in this part of town, and the street outside is always full of people and carts. We don’t have a big corporate setup, just a few rooms with enough computers to get the job done. Sometimes it gets really hot in the afternoons, but we just keep the fans going and stay on the phones. Most of our staff have been coming to this same spot for years, so we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit, even though the noise stays the same. Lunch usually comes from one of the small messes nearby. It's not a flashy job, but we stay busy with the local trade and the ships coming into the harbor. It’s just a regular day-to-day grind here in Parrys.
