Mamta Steels

We are located at No 35 in the Sidco Estate, over in South Coromandel Town. It’s a big industrial area, so there are always trucks moving in and out, kicking up dust. Mamta Steels is basically a large shed filled with stacks of steel. We spend our time unloading shipments and then cutting things down to size for whoever walks in. It’s a lot of physical work, and your back feels it by the end of the week. The estate is a bit out of the way, but it gives us the space we need for the heavy inventory. We don't have a showroom with air conditioning; we just have the warehouse and a small corner with a table where we do the billing. It gets hot under the tin roof, especially in the middle of the day, so we drink a lot of water. We’ve been here long enough that we know the regular drivers and the local contractors who come by for their supplies. We don't go in for big advertisements or anything like that. People know where we are if they need steel. We just focus on keeping the stock organized and making sure the scales are working right. It’s a simple operation, really. Just a few of us moving metal around and making sure the orders are ready when the trucks come back to pick them up.
