Our office is located in West Mambalam, which is one of those parts of Chennai that always feels crowded no matter what time it is. The address can be a little confusing for people visiting for the first time because of the old and new numbering system they use here. We are at Door Number C4, which used to be 102/1 but is now New Number 20 on Oldmambalam Road. It is a busy street and there is always the sound of scooters and horns drifting in through the windows. The building itself has been around for a while and shows its age in the corners. Inside we have set up our desks and chairs in a way that makes sense for our daily work. It is often quite humid so the fans are almost always running at full speed. We spend a lot of time on the phones or checking through documents that pile up on the wooden desks. There is a small tea shop just a short walk away where we usually go when we need a break from the screen. We do not have any corporate decorations or expensive furniture. It is just a functional space where the local staff comes to get their shifts done. Sometimes the mail gets mixed up because of the address changes but we have learned to keep an eye out for the postman. It is a simple place in a very lively neighborhood.
