Kumaran Steel

We’ve been here at Kumaran Steel for a long time. Our place is at New No.19 on Samayapurathaman Koil Street. Some people still use the old number, 8/1, which can be a bit confusing for delivery drivers. It’s a busy little area. We spend most of our days moving steel around and talking to people who walk in from the street. The shop isn't anything special to look at, just a place where work gets done. You’ll usually hear the clanging of metal before you even see the sign. It gets quite dusty, and by the end of the day, everything is covered in a fine layer of grit. We take our tea breaks when the sun gets too hot. There's a small shop nearby that makes a decent chai. Sometimes we just sit on the stools and watch the traffic go by on the Koil street. It’s a lot of physical labor, lifting and loading, but it’s what keeps us going. We don’t really do fancy ads or anything. Most folks find us because they live nearby or someone told them we were here. The neighborhood has changed a lot, but we’re still here doing the same thing every morning. We open up early, sweep the front, and wait for the first truck. It’s just how things are at Kumaran Steel. No big fuss, just honest work on a regular street. We don’t have a lot of help, just a few of us making sure everything is in its right place.
