Acropolis Granites

We have been at No. 30 Gandhi Mandapam Road for a good while now. It is a pretty busy spot right in Kotturpuram. Most of our days start quite early because the sun gets really hot by noon and makes working outside difficult. We handle a lot of granite slabs every single day. They are very heavy and take a lot of effort to move around the yard. People often stop by just to ask about different types of stone or to see what we have in stock. Sometimes the dust from the stones gets everywhere, on our clothes and in the office. It is just how it is in this line of work. We keep the gate open even when the traffic outside on the main road gets really loud. You can see our shop clearly if you are driving past. The workers are usually busy loading or unloading big trucks. It is mostly manual work. We do not have a big fancy office with air conditioning. Just a simple desk and some stone samples. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon. We just sit outside and wait for it to come back. Living and working in this part of Chennai means you get used to the constant noise. We have known the neighbors for many years. There is a small tea stall nearby where we go for breaks. The granite business is not very glamorous. It involves a lot of lifting.
