Down in Mannady, specifically at No. 64/42, Venkata Maistry Street, you’ll find Karthik Steel. This part of Parrys is always crowded and moving. We have been here for a while, tucked away in this street. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze for the trucks to come in and unload, so there is usually a lot of shouting and directing traffic when a delivery arrives. The shop itself is filled with steel rods and plates. It’s heavy, dirty stuff, so don't expect to keep your clothes clean if you hang around here too long. We don't have air conditioning or anything fancy like that, just a couple of old fans that do their best. We’ve known the other shop owners on Venkata Maistry Street for years. We look out for each other. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just sit outside on the stools until it comes back on. We aren't much for writing big reports or having long meetings. We just check the orders, load the material, and get it sent out. The paperwork usually gets done on an old wooden desk that’s seen better days. It’s a bit chaotic, and the floor is always dusty with iron bits, but it’s our space. We do things the old-fashioned way because that’s what we know.
