Kalptaru Steels

Kalptaru Steels is tucked away at No 110 on Linghi Chetty Street in the Parrys area. If you’ve ever been to Parrys, you know exactly what the streets are like. They are narrow, incredibly crowded, and there is a constant hum of activity from sunrise to sunset. Finding parking is nearly impossible, so most people just walk or use two-wheelers to get to us. Our building is one of those older structures that has seen a lot of history. We handle steel, which is heavy and awkward to move in such a cramped neighborhood, but we’ve gotten quite good at the logistics over the years. The shop itself is packed with inventory from floor to ceiling. It can feel a bit tight when we have a lot of stock coming in, but we make it work. We don't have a big corporate team; it’s just us and a few workers who know where everything is kept. Most of our customers are people who have been buying from this area for decades. It’s a noisy, sweaty place to work, especially in the Chennai heat, but there’s a certain energy to Linghi Chetty Street that you don't find in the newer industrial parks. We just open up the shutters every morning and get to it. There’s no point in making it sound like something it isn't.
