Kailash Shipping Services (P) Ltd. has been operating out of 14, Jaffer Syrang Street for quite some time. Jaffer Syrang is one of those old streets where you can really feel the history of the shipping trade. The buildings are old and have thick walls, but they still get hot in the summer. We are right in the middle of it all, with the port nearby and the smell of the sea always in the air. Shipping is a tough business because things are always changing, and we spend most of our time on the phone or responding to messages about cargo. It is not a clean, quiet job. There is always dust from the road and the sound of horns blaring outside. Our office is full of old wooden furniture and stacks of paper that never seem to get any smaller. We don't have a marketing department or anyone to write fancy brochures. We just talk to the people who need our help and try to get their shipments cleared and moved. It takes a lot of patience to deal with the various rules and the waiting times at the docks. Some days are long and we stay late just to make sure a ship gets what it needs. It is just what we do here on this street, and we are used to the rhythm of it by now.
