K2cranes is located in Thirumudivakkam. This is an industrial area through and through, so it’s not exactly a scenic spot for an office. We are surrounded by other workshops and heavy industry units. Our work involves cranes, which means we are dealing with big pieces of machinery every single day. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and metal-on-metal sounds. The yard is usually full of equipment in various states of being worked on or moved. It’s a dusty place, and the sun can be really brutal when we are out there on the floor. We don’t have a fancy reception area with a sofa. If you come to see us, you’ll probably find us in the middle of the yard or in the small shed we use as an office. We wear heavy boots and clothes that we don't mind getting dirty. There’s no corporate fluff here. We just deal with the mechanical stuff and try to keep the cranes in good shape. The commute out to Thirumudivakkam is a bit of a trek for some of us, but it’s where the work is located. We have our lunch under the shade of a tree or inside the office when it’s just too hot to be outside. It’s a simple, hardworking life for the crew. We don't spend money on fancy advertisements; we just focus on the machines and getting through the day's tasks. It's a very practical, straightforward place to work, and we like it that way. No one is putting on an act.
