Jayaayaar Engineers

We are over at No 22 on Nelson Manickam Road, right on the first floor. If you know Choolaimedu, you probably know the bus stop nearby, it is always crowded around there. We started Jayaayaar Engineers because there was a need for some real technical help in this part of Chennai. Usually, someone is always in the office by nine, unless the traffic on the main road is particularly bad that morning. The stairs up to the first floor are a bit narrow, but it is a quiet enough spot once you get inside and away from the noise of the bikes. We spend a lot of time looking at drawings and talking through how things should be built. It is not a fancy setup, just a few desks and some cupboards full of old files. Sometimes the tea man from downstairs comes up with some snacks. People stop by to ask about their house plans or some structural issue they have. We just try to get the work done without making too much of a fuss about it. Choolaimedu is a busy place, and being right here on the first floor lets us see everything happening on the road. We have been in this spot for a while now, and most of the neighbors know us. It feels right to be part of the local community here in Chennai, just doing our job every day.
