We are way up on the third floor on Thambu Chetty Street. The building is old and the number is a bit confusing because it says 184 but used to be 240/2. It’s easy to get lost if you don't know the area. Our office is full of ledgers and trade papers. We deal with a lot of different people coming in and out. The phone is almost always ringing. It’s a bit of a climb up those stairs, but we’re used to it. The windows are usually open to let in some air, but you get all the noise from the street below. We don't have fancy furniture. It’s just metal desks and chairs that have been here for twenty years. We trade in a lot of different things, mostly stuff that people need for their businesses. It’s not very glamorous. There’s a lot of writing and checking lists. We have a small corner where we keep the kettle for tea. My brother and I run the daily stuff while a couple of clerks help with the filing and the phone calls. It’s a bit disorganized at times, especially when a big shipment is coming in and the paperwork piles up. But we manage to keep track of it all. We don't have a big lobby or a receptionist. You just walk in and someone will help you eventually. It's a busy, noisy, honest place to work and we've been here for a long time.
